5. Peter Kay - Doctor Who
Because how could you not regret this? If anyone was going to excel in the role of an absorbing alien with a mohawk, it should've been Peter Kay. So where did it all go so wrong for our baneful beastie from the planet Clom? Well, the episode he was introduced in didn't exactly help matters, with a lacklustre premise that you've all but completely tuned out of by the time the Abzorbaloff makes his impromptu arrival. He was just about passable when he was sat down, too, but then he went and spoiled it all by doing something stupid like running aimlessly through the streets of Cardifff wearing a sagging nappy for apparently no reason whatsoever. Yes, he was designed by a 9 year old, but that's really no excuse. Thankfully, Peter Kay regrets it, too. He's even gone as far as to say that it's "the biggest mistake of his career" and, to make matters even worse, the comedian was originally approached for the role of Elton Pope but asked to play the Abzorbaloff because he wanted to leave his mark on the world of Doctor Who villains. In retrospect, he really should've just taken what he was offered. It would've saved him - and us - a lot of embarrassment. The genuine article, indeed. Hmph.
