10 Stephen King Stories That Need To Become TV Shows
6. On Writing
Stay with us on this one, because while on the outset King's best piece of non fiction doesn't seem like TV material, those that were enraptured with this memoir/craft masterclass/recovery piece will see the potential. Striking a superb balance between telling his own story, with telling others how to write a story, On Writing is King's true masterwork. Also finding time to ponder with readers about taking an early retirement - this was following his 1999 accident, where he was hit by a Land Rover while out walking - the book is crammed with so many themes there is no reason why it couldn't be turned into an episodic series. With the likes of last year's Montage Of Heck and Making A Murderer showing how documentaries can place the artist as the architect of the feature and span many episodes, respectively, the scope for a miniseries at least is there. Just imagine, in the right hands, how King's own gory description of his accident could be realised on the screen. HBO, you'd be daft to pass this one up.
