The story of the Vampire DIaries follows the main protagonist Elena Gilbert as she lives her life as a normal high school girl until she falls in love with a vampire named Stephan and his brother Damon.
Over time Elena and her friends are dragged further and further into the supernatural world, admittedly abandoning the teen drama tv shows for a more young adult vampire/supernatural drama show filled with heartbreaking scenes and a plotline that is one of the best drama shows that the CW has ever made.
The show and its two spinoff series are well worth the watch no matter how old or young you are, if you like vampires even slightly, you're going to love this show.
