10 Things The Arrowverse Wishes It Could've Done Differently

1. Civil War (Arrow)

Season 6 of Arrow saw the team split in two in what was essentially a civil war. It was a mistake. Even Arrow's showrunner, Marc Guggenheim, will confess. In an interview with TV Line, he stated, "If I miscalculated anywhere, it's probably on the order of not taking into full consideration the fact that […] there's always going to be a love and affection for the original characters that the new characters don't get a chance to enjoy."

He's right. Viewers were never going to side with Rene, Curtis and Dinah over Oliver, Diggle and Felicity. We had spent six prior seasons with the original Team Arrow - they had our loyalty.

The issue is, the more time we spent on Team Arrow's civil war, the less time we spent with villain Cayden James. This was no Captain America: Civil War. With the majority of viewers on the side of the original Team Arrow, the civil war felt like a nuisance and distraction from the main story.

The newer Team Arrow never stood a chance and we knew that - so why spend the time on it? The storyline was misjudged - Rene, Curtis and Dinah were never in contention.

Rene, Curtis and Dinah weren't new characters by this point but we certainly didn't know them as well as we did the original members of Team Arrow. The civil war storyline made us want to dislike them. Time would have been better spent integrating them into Team Arrow. There could still be disagreements along the way but it would've saved us from seeing a whole lot of unneeded drama.
