10 Things We Already Know About The X-Files Revival
6. William B. Davis (The Smoking Man) Has Been Approached
Chris Carter once memorably stated that "no one ever really dies on The X-Files" - but despite that, news that William B. Davis has been approached to possibly return to the series is rather surprising. After all, the most evil television villain in the medium's history appears to be well past dead in The X-Files universe - a rocket fired from a helicopter pretty much struck him in the face, burning the skin from his skull in a final fiery exit in the show's finale. That said, Davis, now in his late seventies, has remained active as an actor, recently appearing in a recurring role on Continuum, with two other credits currently in production. The Smoking Man being so iconic (he appeared, uncredited and in character, in Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back and was once rumoured to turn up on Lost), it would seem hard not to include him - but in what capacity? A spirit? A flashback? Time will tell.
