10 Things We Already Know About The X-Files Revival
5. It Will Be A Mix Of Mythology And Monster Of The Week Episodes
This was one of the biggest questions fans had about the revival of the seminal '90s paranormal series: would it focus on the mythology of the show, an ongoing tale of alien colonisation, or would The X-Files once again feature standalone episodes not necessarily connected to the serial storyline? Well, the answer is that it will be a mix. That may seem surprising in a season with just six episodes, but the reality of the situation is that the fan base is very divided when it comes to the two formats. Some are mythology junkies and rightfully point out that The X-Files essentially set the standard for serialised genre dramas on television: Buffy, Angel, Lost, Fringe, American Horror Story (with its own unique twist); many have followed the path blazed by the series. Others point out that many of the most memorable episodes were the standalone ones, those that featured the likes of Eugene Victor Tooms, The Fluke Man, and Donnie Pfaster. Really, the only option seems to be to try to please both, which is what the new series will attempt.
