10 Things We Learned From The Star Trek Voyager Cast Reunion

1. Robert Beltran REALLY Didnt Love His Time On The Show

Don't let the smile fool you: Robert Beltran still struggles to say anything nice about his time on the show.

Becoming most vocal about it in the fifth year, Beltran was fed up at what he felt was the lack of proper direction for his character on the show. When asked what he liked most about the show, he first answer was a sarcastic one. He 'loved' having to speak in the native tongue.

Chakotay was of Native American descent in the show and as such was portrayed as being very spiritual. However, this, like many other plot threads, eventually went nowhere. Many of his early episodes saw him embarking on spirit quests, speaking language that he found difficult to take seriously.

He was not a fan of the long hours either, which is understandable - especially as he felt he was putting in those hours for relatively little gain.

In fact, when pressed for an answer, he merely stated that he was glad to have met and worked alongside the other cast members. He had apparently initially struggled with the introduction of Seven of Nine, believing it was the start of pushing his character to the side, something he would later become somewhat softer about.

While he does not remain a fan, he seems to remain close with the other cast members, commenting that he had spoken with Garrett Wang only the day before. Surely, a more positive outcome than simply hating the seven years he worked on the show!
