10 Things We Need To See In House Of The Dragon Season 2
1. Dragon on dragon combat
It seems almost unbelievable that a show as dragon-centric as House of the Dragon has not featured a legitimate duel in the skies between the titular mythological creatures to date.
While some viewers might argue that Vhagar taking on Arrax constituted House of the Dragon's first depiction of dragon-on-dragon combat, this was about as much of a contest as a paper plane taking on a Boeing 747. Vhagar is described in Fire and Blood as being five times the size of Arrax but looks roughly ten times that on-screen as she chomps through the unfortunate young dragon and his rider in short order.
What fans are salivating to see - and will be inevitably treated to in short order when the new season debuts - is a legitimate, fire-breathing, aerial battle between evenly matched opponents. The potential excitement associated with such potential is twofold; rider vs rider and dragon vs dragon. Who in their right mind doesn't want to see Daemon and Caraxes take on Aemond and Vhagar amid bursts of apocalyptic flame at dizzying heights and speeds? The introduction of new dragons to the show's fold only serves to increase the frequency at which these jaw dropping contests could potentially occur.
Nearly every single pivotal clash in the Dance of the Dragons features some form of aerial confrontation, usually in addition to a harrowing demonstration of the unmatchable fire-power of the ancient Valyrian beasts. Concurrently, a large portion of House of the Dragon's lasting legacy will be contingent on the quality of the franchise's depictions of these epic encounters. No pressure.
