10 Times Doctor Who Was More Like Fifty Shades Of Grey

4. Oh Look, They've Tied Up The Assistant Again

Has there ever been a show in which the female lead has been tied up more times than in Doctor Who? Yes, sometimes the Doctor gets bound as well but in comparison to the poor female assistant, this is miniscule. Right from when Barbara was menace by a rather phallic sink plunger, the lot of the Who girl has been to get terrorised and tied up, at least in the Classic Series.

Even when Women's Lib started to rear its head, it wasn't long before the apparantly strong willed female was tied up. Sarah Jane, the plucky independent journalist, spent most of her time either tied up or mesmerised and Leela, the fierce warrior of the Sevateem, was clad in a fetish outfit and stuck in a giant steamer. Peri had it so bad she's warranted an entry all of her own.

The new series still likes to tie up its leading ladies from time to time. Martha got tied up and cloned while Amy spent some time in the ultimate restraint room, the Pandorica. It's clear that River Song would go for a bit of restraint as well, though for her it would be more through choice. Bondage, sweetie!
