Cheers is one of the most remarkable sitcoms ever made; a smart, character-driven comedy that ran for eleven seasons and 275 episodes, and despite being set in only place never struggled for things to do or say.

Starring Ted Danson as former baseball player and bar owner Sam Malone, the show never really feels like it has a plot. At its core, it's just a series about people who confide in each other, have some laughs, suffer some heartbreak, and keep coming back for more.

Like many of the more minimalistic sitcoms on offer, Cheers could easily have gone on for years and years to come, since its premise was so simple but so compelling the idea of getting bored by it was a laughable one.

Ultimately, though, it ended with its eleventh chapter, but as luck would have it it also spawned a beloved spin-off centred on psychiatrist Frasier Crane, which itself went on to air for eleven seasons. As of this writing, a revival is in the works for Frasier.
