Somewhere along the line, Rory Williams transformed from a meek little nerd who was basically the Moffat era's tin dog, into a fully fledged superhero. When we first met him, Rory was little more than Amy's downtrodden boyfriend, and it was immediately clear who wore the pants in the relationship. He had a vaguely Arthur Dent sensibility, where he felt that the universe was expecting just a little bit too much from him on any given day. But although Rory takes like sixteen levels in badass along the way, he's still the same sweet, devoted guy. He just also happens to be a sweet guy who punches Hitler, manages to hold a gun straight while debilitating electric shocks are coursing through his brain, and blows up Cyber ships just to make a point. You can't question the resolve of a man willing to guard his fiancee for a thousand years while she lay comatose in a giant cube. And really, the overall message we get is that you do not mess with Rory Williams or his loved ones (especially his loved ones) if you'd like to continue breathing air.
