8. Marcel Is The Moonshine Monkey - Friends
From one Gellar to another, although with a slightly different spelling.
Ross Geller is one (and by far the worst) of the main characters in hit sitcom Friends. Over the show's ten seasons he tried to enforce masculine norms onto his son, said the wrong woman's name at the altar, and bored everyone to death by yacking on about dinosaurs.
One of the character's early gimmicks was a pet monkey named Marcel. However, the capuchin was sent off to the zoo just twenty-one episodes into the series.
One season later, the writers decided to reunite Ross with his primate pal in one of the most clearly telegraphed reveals in the show's history.
The palaeontologist catches a glimpse of a monkey just like Marcel in a beer commercial on TV. Inspired by this, he visits the zoo to see his former roommate, only to find out he has died.
However, it soon becomes clear that this was a ruse and that Marcel was actually the same monkey that Ross saw in the commercial!
It's hardly earth-shattering, but it's funny to imagine that the Friends writers would think anybody would be shocked by this reveal.
