10 TV Shows To Watch If You Love Buffy The Vampire Slayer

3. Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina

iZombie CW
Netflix

At a glance, the premise of this Archie Comics adaptation is eerily similar to Buffy: a teenaged girl blessed with superpowers must accept her destiny via spooky hijinks. Also worth noting is the respective characters' penchants for being independent and outspoken in the faces of authority and adversity.

From there, the 2 couldn't be more different. Sabrina's life isn't a straightforward monster-fighting path. Instead, much of it revolves around her struggle to not a monster herself. Her family have a long-running history of worshipping The Dark Lord (think Satan over Sauron) and the witchcraft powers she enjoys result from her familial connection to him. Sabrina's left with the tricky decision of either continuing her family's infernal legacy or branching out to find her own life.

Initially intended as a companion to the CW's Riverdale, Sabrina was snatched up by Netflix where it could enjoy a little more creative freedom.

Macabre, irreverent and campy, the series boasts an excellent lead performance from Mad Men's Kiernan Shipka and topnotch production value. A fun and imaginative series for those who are not members of the Satanic Temple
