10 Underrated TV Shows You Need To Start Watching

5. Chucky

Copenhagen Cowboy
Syfy

There are certainly those who heard about Chucky living on as a Syfy TV series and immediately dismissed it as a desperation move, that the Child's Play franchise had lost its theatrical value and was now eking out a meagre existence on a third-rate TV network (no offense, Syfy).

Yet as anyone who's seen more than an episode or two of the show will attest, Chucky has delivered some of the greatest material in the slasher franchise's history.

Aided by the active involvement of Child's Play creator Don Mancini, Chucky debuted to solid reviews, yet has struggled to grow its viewership over the course of its two seasons to date.

By the end of the recently concluded second season, the linear TV ratings had declined significantly compared to the first season, enough that fans feared it wouldn't be renewed for a third.

But alas, Syfy indeed greenlit season three, yet unless the ratings pick up, it's fairly probable that the upcoming season will be Chucky's last.

Considering how creatively and ambitiously the show has engaged with the series' lore, it'd be a damn shame if Mancici's vision was cut short prematurely. If you care at all about the Child's Play franchise, you need to do your part and tune in.
