10 Vikings Fates Worse Than Death

3. Cursed To Live As The Seer

On paper, the life of The Seer seems pretty cool. You have the ability to spell prophecies, are essentially ageless/immortal and have a solid job that gives you a modicum of status. But, for the most part, those plus points are part of what makes this such a miserable existence.

In this life, The Seer has nothing to give to the world but his prophecies and visions, which leads to him finding little joy or pleasure in anything. His mangled and ancient body also leaves him physically inept and struggling to live a regular life, which can't be pleasant at all.

Plus, while immortality seems good on the surface, it leaves The Ancient One cursed to forever be caught in the shackles of loneliness. He can't bond with anyone, knowing that he will outlive them one day. Thus, he's destined to remain alone for his entire time on Earth.

In the end, The Seer was taken from life by Ivar, ending this perpetual suffering. But, even in death, he still appeared in visions, seemingly trapped in servitude to the gods for all time.
