Corporate sponsors and product placement are just as inevitable as death and taxes when it comes to TV sitcoms. Shows have got to make their money somehow, and integrating products can be a great way to do that, even if audiences often see through it. Community, however, was great at this, as they integrated them into the story ironically. Still, at this point, the joke had worn thin.

This outing saw the return of Subway - now using the name Rick - who has come back to the school to partake in guerrilla marketing where he advertises to students in the guise of being a regular person. The Dean is particularly susceptible to this and purchases way more than he needs. There's also a subplot that sees Jeff struggle with the fact that the newly introduced Elroy doesn't like him.

Seeing Rick back was something fans were happy about, but the soulless corporate selling here felt a little too on the nose. The first time he appeared, his narrative with Britta wasn't the centre of the episode, so it worked well, but here he felt way more like the primary narrative, and it was simply too much.
