11 Doctor Who Rumours That Turned Out To Be Complete Twaddle

4. Cyber Kylie

Kylie Minogue has made no secret of the fact she's a self-confessed Doctor Who fanatic. Not only has she written songs about her admiration for everybody's favourite Time Lord but she even enlisted the help of the Cybermen to feature as backing dancers during one of her tours. She must have quite literally been living the Whovian dream, then, when she landed a guest part in the show's 2007 Christmas Special Voyage of the Damned. She should be so lucky! The announcement of any pop princess being cast in the series is always going to result in an explosion of mass media interest (Billie Piper can certainly vouch for that) but with Kylie it was something quite different. Kylie rose to fame for her role as tomboy mechanic Charlene Robinson in the ongoing Australian soap opera Neighbours so it's not like anyone was really in the position to doubt her abilities as an actress. A certain tabloid - it was The Sun, by the way, if you hadn't guessed already from the excruciatingly painful headline - had to find a new way of conjuring clickbait and they accomplished it by claiming that Kylie herself would be playing a Cyberman (or a Cyberwoman, to be more precise) in the festive escapade. Is that really the best they could come up? Evidently, yes.
