4. Family Guy - Brian Dies
Everyone's favourite alcoholic chain-smoking liberal mouthpiece talking dog was gruesomely hit and killed by a car in the 24 November episode, and the Griffins got a new dog named Vinnie, voiced by Paulie Walnuts himself, Tony Sirico. Vinnie was around for three episodes before the writers copped out and brought Brian back via a time machine return pad from a past Stewie. Vinnie was basically Paulie Walnuts in dog form, which took a lot of getting used to. The entire family warmed up to him very quickly, but Stewie wouldn't have it at first although they eventually became good friends. Vinnie even helped Stewie to save Brian in his final episode, thus sealing their friendship even though they will never have met. Killing off Brian was a really gutsy move made by Family Guy and honestly I'm a little upset it didn't stick. Did I like Vinnie? Not really, but honestly, I think Brian's character dried up ages ago and just wasn't funny anymore, even in Brian and Stewie episodes. Nevertheless, the outrage poured in and online petitions were signed demanding the return of everyone's favorite talking dog, only to find out at Christmas that it was planned out all along to bring him back.
