12 TV Shows That Just Got Cancelled

It’s the end of the line for these fan-favourite TV shows...

Black Lightning
The CW

This year has been a strange one for just about everyone, and you can damn sure bet that a host of TV studio heads and network executives would agree.

The ongoing global situation impacted both the film and television landscapes a great deal, resulting in countless delays in release schedules and full-on production shutdowns worldwide. Though some TV productions have since managed to pick up where they left off, others have not been so lucky and, as a result, they have found themselves the unfortunate victims of a situation out of their network's control.

Of course, global events aren't the only reason for shows having their plugs pulled. Television is an ever-changing landscape full of ups and downs, but for the shows unable to ride that wave (and weather its storms), the dark shadow of cancellation looms.

The reasons mentioned above have already resulted in a ton of TV cancellations this year, but that was not the end of it. With that in mind, before 2020 bows out, let's take a look at the latest batch of shows that have met an unfortunate and untimely conclusion.

12. The Order

Black Lightning
Netflix

The Order offered viewers a fresh new look at the tired old YA supernatural genre by bringing a lot of its own conventions together. In there, you had college students, secret societies, dark family secrets and, oh yeah, werewolves - and throughout the show's short run it became something of a hidden gem on Netflix. Sadly, it needed to be a lot less, well, hidden.

That said, the truth is that nobody knows why The Order was cancelled. However, it wouldn't be too out-there to suggest that it had something to do with Netflix's recent programming cull. The streaming service has been cancelling shows left, right and centre this year (and even reversing renewals on popular shows like GLOW and The Society because of the ongoing global situation). It was thought that The Order managed to avoid that fate because it made it through the height of the cancellation spree, but it eventually met its end in November.

Like the aforementioned shows, The Order had a lot left to give and it's a shame that it won't get the chance to fulfil that potential.
