13 CW Actors Who Deserve An Emmy Nomination

8. Tom Cavanagh - The Flash

Some would say he deserves an Emmy Award... and some would be right.

Tom Cavanagh has always been one of The Flash's most consistent performers, but none of his many versions of Harrison Wells have come close to matching the heights of his chilling portrayal of the maniacal Eobard Thawne (a.k.a. the Reverse-Flash) from the show's first season - which is why it was such a treat to see him return to the role this year.

While he was appropriately quirky as Earth-221's iteration of the character, Harrison 'Sherloque' Wells, throughout the season (and, thus, could be relied upon to provide some comic relief), it was his turn as the villainous speedster that really stood out - for it reminded us what he was truly capable of.

With his chilling glare and a whisper so eccentric that he came off like a mad genius, Cavanagh immediately slotted right back into his most famous role, regaining that larger-than-life presence that he possessed all the way back in Season 1. Moreover, he sold everything that the character thought incredibly well and, as a result, all of the convoluted time-travel logic, lingo and jargon seemed believable. Why? Because Thawne was the master and Cavanagh was pulling his strings.

Pulling double duty isn't easy for any actor, especially when both roles are so contrasting but, like always, Cavanagh pulled it off. His Reverse-Flash is, without a doubt, one of the greatest live-action villains of all time and, this season, he reminded viewers why we fell in love with him in the first place.
