13 Most Hotly Anticipated New TV Shows Of 2014

9. Fargo €“ 15th April, FX

This one is a no-brainer. The Coen brothers, on TV, executive producing a TV adaptation of their cult classic 1996 film Fargo starring Martin Freeman. Couple this with a pilot directed by Adam Bernstein (Breaking Bad), and what more could you ask for? The series also stars actors of the calibre of Billy Bob Thornton, Colin Hanks and Oliver Platt, and it seems that it'll be going in a slightly different direction from the original film, but hopefully the Coens' endorsement means it'll share the same tone. FX is being a little cagey on the details for this one, but it'll be an anthology series like American Horror Story, with a limited run of 10 episodes per season following events in a small North Dakota town. So far, it has been confirmed that Thornton plays a drifter who causes trouble for Freeman's small-town insurance man, and presumably things spiral from there; keep an eye out, because Fargo is guaranteed to be a conversation starter come April.
