13 Reasons Why Season 3: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
3. Alex Standall
Perhaps the show’s richest character, Alex Standall
found himself going on yet another deep-rooted character journey this season,
as he struggled with a ton of internal conflict over events that transpired last season, and ones that took place a lot more recently than any of us were initially aware of.
From lingering depression after everything that went down over the previous year, to his recent break-up with Jessica, it’s safe to say that he was going through a lot and that ultimately set the stage for him to begin looking after his body – something that unfortunately resulted in him taking steroids.
While it felt like a lot of his most integral character work took place off-screen, what we saw was elevated by Miles Heizer’s nuanced performance, as he continued to use the reduced screen-time to emphasise exactly how Alex felt. And this was enough to ensure that, in spite of his good heart, the troubled teen was capable of being pushed so far as to kill Bryce.
Alex's emotions have always influenced his actions, and that was incredibly clear this season. Let's just hope that we get more of a chance to see him deal with the fallout of this year's events in the final offering because, in all honesty, Season 3 needed more of him.
