15 Annoying Mistakes You Never Noticed In Doctor Who

7. The Daleks Aren't Robots. Or Are They?

Destiny Daleks 1979€™s Destiny Of The Daleks was Dalek creator Terry Nation€™s final Doctor Who script but was almost entirely rewritten by comic virtuoso and Doctor Who script editor Douglas Adams. Which explains why at one point the Doctor is reading a book by Hitchhiker€™s Guide character Oolon Colluphid. But what God gave Adams in comedic talent, he took away in his knowledge of Dalek lore. Destiny Of The Daleks marks the only point in Doctor Who history where the Daleks are classified as robots; being locked in a logic-enforced stalemate with the android Movellans, and referred to as robots even by Davros. Although this is saved from being an out-and-out screw-up by the Doctor finding the remains of a Kaled mutant and noting that the Daleks were originally organic life-forms; the rest of the story carries the implication that, at this point in their existence, the Daleks have stripped out their organic components and become completely robotic. An exceptionally flawed concept that has never been revisited for very obvious reasons.
