15 Best Sci-Fi TV Shows Of The 21st Century
2. Futurama
The
funniest sci-fi show of the new millennium, Futurama was the long-awaited follow-up
to creator Matt Groneing’s earlier show, a little family sitcom called The Simpsons.
No pressure on the cast, crew, and writer’s room for this one then, though the cancelled and un-cancelled show is so funny, charming, and inventive (as well as undeniably satirically sharp) that it makes the unenviable feat of following America’s number one family look easy.
Under-appreciated in its time, the adventures of Fry, Leela, Bender and the rest of the Planet Express crew have since gone on to earn their rightful place in sci-fi TV history, and this series is now acknowledged as a huge influence on later shows as diverse as Rick and Morty, Other Space, and Final Space.
