15 Best TV Shows Of The Last 25 Years

10. Lost (2004€“2010)

Lost After a mysterious and bloody airplane crash, 48 survivors are left stranded on a Pacific Island...miles off course. It soon becomes apparent that they will not have to cope only with the forces of nature, but with the island's secrets, including the Dharma Initiative, the "Lost Numbers", the "Others" (or hostiles) and the strange black smoke, to name just a few. There is also much more here than meets the eye, as it becomes apparent that everyone is connected in some way and that everyone has a purpose to live on the island...and for some, to die. I consider this my first "grown up" show. What I mean, is that this was the first show that I actually waited every week for, watched in real time (I grew up partly in Israel, so everything came later there, but this was shown the next night), and really got into it. Hardcore. No one was alive when this show was on. I will never forget the moment the show began; they were all stranded on the beach with those horrible plane parts around them, and I just knew - I was gone. I really see it as the best adventure/drama/fantasy/mystery/thriller show ever made. The casting was impeccable, from the funny, lovable Hurley to the brooding, sexy Jack, not to mention the biggest hottie - Sawyer. Though Kim was no slouch either. I never connected to Kate, she annoyed me, but her character was there for a reason, as was the cast. Nothing like Lost has ever been attempted. The stories were dark and complex, the creator was a genius (J.J. Abrams) and the mystery of it all blew your mind every time. I adored and feared it every week because I knew they were going to answer a question or two, but just propose a thousand more. That show must have been exhausting to make; I don't envy those people. But it was worth it. I still miss it. Did I mention my favorite - the impeccable Terry O'Quinn? He was even a guest star on STTNG...

Born in Israel, but raised partly in the UK, Shira is rather an odd duck. She will get in your face with her opinion, but will then be super polite to the waitress serving her a cocktail, no matter how bad the service is. Movies are her passion, along with good TV, music, and Shakespeare. She loves to sing and goes to karaoke a lot, too. She will do anything creative, and will resort to finger painting if necessary. Shira also, apparently, enjoys writing about herself in third person, which is weird. But she just finished her first Fantasy novel, and it's not about her, so that's ok. Shira is very glad to be a part of WhatCulture!
