15 Greatest BoJack Horseman Episodes Of All Time
1. The View From Halfway Down (Season 6, Episode 15)
It was bound to take a miracle to surpass the greatness of Free Churro, Stupid Piece of Sh*t or Time's Arrow, but BoJack Horseman managed it all the same.
The penultimate episode of the show, The View From Halfway Down is the pinnacle of the tragi-comedy, fusing together every aspect of what makes the show so great. The animation is sharper and more engaging than ever, the voice work is impeccable, and the symbolism, call-backs and dialogue is spotless.
After an overdose, BoJack finds himself falling into his subconscious, talking to dead family and friends and unsure whether he'll ever wake up. In the dream, which quickly becomes an existential nightmare, BoJack meets his mother, his old friend Herb, former co-star Corduroy Jackson-Jackson, Sarah Lynn and a Freudian mix of his father, Butterscotch, and his idol, Secretariat.
BoJack spends the episode confronting the ghosts of his past, wondering whether he's lost in death's embrace, destined for Hell. This was the show's last-ditch attempt to save BoJack from himself, and The View From Halfway Down perfectly brings everything to a head in the most intense, heartbreaking way possible.
Just remember to keep those tissues handy, okay?
