15 Greatest BoJack Horseman Episodes Of All Time
10. The Showstopper (Season 5, Episode 11)
BoJack Horseman has never been a show adverse to taking big risks, and never was that more clear than with The Showstopper, an episode so dark, so shocking and so viscerally intense that it throws BoJack into the lowest depths he's ever fallen to. His drug addiction off the rails, he blacks out shooting a scene for his new show and strangles his co-star Gina on camera.
Up until this point, the show's portrayal of addiction had been mature and honest, but also with undertones of comedy. Here, BoJack's opioid addiction takes a much more sinister turn, and makes him seem more irredeemable than ever.
Outside of BoJack's violent outburst, The Showstopper also sheds some light on the real-life nature of Hollywood and the way it treats women and powerful men. If that wasn't enough, Diane also finds out about BoJack's indiscretion with Penny in season two, and throws BoJack once more in a pit of depression and unhinged paranoia. It's far from an easy watch, this one, but it is a must-watch all the same.
