Well, this one was just plain weird, wasn't it? It's a nice way of easing you in gently to the rest of the bombshells to come on this countdown, though, so it's still worth a mention. With the Tenth Doctor's regeneration looming in The End of Time, he embarked on a whistle-stop farewell to say goodbye to his previous companions. His first port of call was Martha Jones and it soon transpired that she had left the confines of alien organisations to fight the good fight as a freelance Earth Defender. And she had the kick ass hair braids to prove it. This character development would've made sense if it hadn't then been revealed that she was now married to Mickey Smith. Perhaps he was included in the same scene to save time or maybe Russell T Davies just wanted to include "Smith and Jones" on the credits for old times sake. Either way, Martha managed to get her hands on something that Rose Tyler could never keep hold of so who's the one feeling second best now!? Yup. Still Martha. It's a step in the right direction, though. But whatever happened to her first husband, Thomas Milligan, who she met in Last of the Time Lords? It looks like fans will just have to use their imaginations for this one.
