15 Times Rick And Morty Was The Best Show On Television
13. Going To Giant Prison
In the episode Meeseeks and Destroy, the series parodies the Jack and the Beanstalk storyline in a way that has truly never been done before. Everything starts off pretty normally, with Rick and Morty going on an adventure to steal from a giant in the clouds in order to help a poor village.
But the show then asks, what happens after you kill a giant? Surely you can't just walk in, kill him and get away with it? In an extremely dark twist, the giant trips as he's walking in and bleeds out on the floor, with his wife walking discovering his dead body and freaking out. And then the episode turns into Rick and Morty in giant prison because they're suspected of killing him.
It's one of those ideas that makes you wonder how nobody's ever done it before, and it leads to some incredible moments of exploring this whole giant world and how it functions. Like many of Rick and Morty's greatest episodes, it starts in a place you've seen over and over in other shows, but then goes in a direction that's truly unique. Only Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland could come up with the idea of a giant lawyer who's part of a tiny person's advocacy group.
