Okay, so I was trying extremely hard to avoid involving any of the four main characters on this list, but no South Park list would be complete without the monster that is Eric Cartman.
As South Park fans have come to expect a wide array of brutally offensive content week in and week out, so has Eric Cartman become one of the shows most beloved characters.
Despite being disgusting to his mother, his friends and most of the town, racist, homophobic, religiously insensitive, greedy, stupid and grossly over weight for his age, the show would not be the same without Cartman and his hilariously deluded sense of grandeur that makes for some of the best episodes.
Why the other 3 boys even speak to him anymore is a complete and utter mystery, even after Cartman goes as far as telling Butters that the world has ended so that he can lock him in a bomb shelter and convince Kyle that he has finally changed his ways, all to be invited out to his favourite themed restaurant.
The bottom line is, Cartman is a psychopath, and that is apparently exactly what the fans relate to the most.
