20 Greatest HBO Shows Of All Time

6. Rome

Rome
HBO

An epically vivid portrayal of the Roman Empire first under Julius Caesar and then during the violent political battle between Marc Antony and Octavian, Rome was the first drama to really accurately capture the period in the depth it deserved.

Co-produced by the BBC, it received a premature end after two seasons due to the mammoth cost it took to produce the show, which is a major disappointment as the potential of the show was endless.
