I am fortunate amongst the Twin Peaks community as I know absolutely nobody with the name Annie. Spare a thought if you will for the Annies out there whom- in addition to being forced to like a John Denver song- have close friends who have seen the show because you know, they'll have, at least once, received a phone call or a text message from said friend asking her how she is... again and again and again! How else is the Twin Peaks fan supposed to make light of that ending!? And if you're not doing it to make light of the ending... you should stop. You'll be scaring Annie. You can thank me later, Annie. I hope you're OK, Annie. How is Annie today?
9. Diane
When Twin Peaks first began airing, people assumed Diane was real. Some even today take the straight and narrow road and believe Cooper was recording an investigative, verbal report for FBI internal affairs. Others believe Diane was a construct of Cooper's mind, aiding him in his investigation by creating a separate part of his mind, to observe the facts and grant perspective. It's a writer's trick, that one. Hearing your own ideas spoke back to you by your own voice. If it's true, then all of us have Diane in our lives. We've just never bothered to speak to her. Try it, the next time you have a problem. Let Diane know. She might have the solution.
Betting on being a brilliant brother to Bodhi since 2008 (-1 Asian Handicap). Find me @LiamJJohnson on Twitter where you might find some wonderful pearls of wisdom in a stout cocktail of profanity, football discussion and general musings. Or you might not. Depends how red my eyes are.
