William O'Connell portrayed the Orion infilitrator, disguised as an Andorian, in the second season episode of The Original Series, Journey To Babel. This role became one of his most memorable in his long career, though he made many appearances alongside Clint Eastwood, in Western films, as well.

O'Connell served in the Korean War as a First Lieutenant, in the 45th Infantry. For part of his service, he was decorated with the Bronze Star.

He was known for thoughtful gestures, including sending flowers on Christmas Day to the shop of a Parisian clothier who remembered him fondly. He delivered many comedic roles in film and television as well, with many other appearances alongside Star Trek alumni.

O'Connell was 94 years old when he passed away.
