25 Greatest Sci-Fi TV Shows Of All Time

19. Marvel's Agent Carter

Marvel's Cinematic Universe extended its branches into the television territory when it gave some much-needed attention to one of its most interesting characters: Peggy Carter. The female lead of Captain America: The First Avenger, Carter was so much more than Captain Rogers' love interest, and the series gave her a more extended chance to showcase that, all while highlighting the on-screen prowess of powerhouse Hayley Atwell.

The thing that made Agent Carter work was the fact that it took place long before any other MCU project and thus, it could ultimately manipulate the events that set those modern-day entries in motion. And thus, through its all-too-brief run, we got to see how the world slowly began to transform from golden age mayhem to outlandish backdrop for weird and unexplained events of the heroic future.

It handled the beginning of science fiction in a world that we only know for being steeped in it rather well, approaching it with an admirably realistic vision while benefiting from its quirky logic-driven protagonist - one that pushed back against gender norms and redefined what it meant to a great agent in a male-dominated world.
