3 Things Doctor Who Should Do To Retain Fans (And 2 To Bring Old Fans Back)

3. Make The Stories Genuinely Interesting

Some of the recent episodes of Doctor Who have had interesting premises and seemed promising, however a lot of them have fallen flat and not been overly memorable. There’s been good and bad elements in the past 2 series, but it’s doubtful that many people would eagerly rewatch all of Whitakker’s episodes.

Past episodes such as ‘Dalek’ (Series 1), ‘Blink’ (Series 3), ‘The Doctor’s Wife’ (Series 6), and ‘Heaven Sent’ (Series 9) are still loved and re-watched to this day, and for good reason: they gave audiences something they’d never seen before. That’s not to say that every episode needs to be ground-breaking, but it could be argued that a good episode of Who only needs 2 key elements: an investable story and investable characters. Without these factors, why bother watching the whole episode again?

If writers take a look into the past, they’re bound to find episodes that can inspire them, and hopefully help them create some interesting, rewatchable episodes.
