You might have read about "Orange Is The New Black" in my previous article about 10 Brilliant Short-Running TV Shows That Proved Less Is More. Nevertheless, this is not cheating; this show is just worth every praise it gets, and qualifies for this list in more than enough categories. It was created by Jenji Kohan, whose best known for "Weeds" (another fine creation). It has seven (yes seven) different female writers on its staff. And most of its main characters are women, being that the storyline is told in a women's prison. True, "Orange Is The New Black" is not your typical comedy TV show, but this genre has really evolved in the last few years, and this show will definitely have you laughing out loud at times, although in times, could be quite dramatic. Since I wrote about its plot once before, I'll let the critics do the talking this time. Boston Globe writes: "Orange Is the New Black is a funny, dramatically sound, poignant, and thoroughly addictive". USA Today adds: "A deft mix of comedy and drama in which the prison feels like a real place and the women are actual people". And Entertainment Weekly concludes: "It's very funny and occasionally quite moving, with a crackerjack cast and provocative insights". It's just that good.
