8 Craziest TV Fan Theories (That Actually Make Total Sense)

5. Doctor Claw Is Inspector Gadget

DIC Entertainment

Created in 1983, kids TV show Inspector Gadget featured a bumbling, clueless detective with various bionic attachments and pieces of equipment built into his body €(kind of a cross between the Six Million Dollar Man and Inspector Clouseau from the Pink Panther movies). His perennial nemesis was the villainous Doctor Claw, whose face was never seen, but whose evil, growling voice was the narrator for various nefarious schemes, always foiled by Gadget'€™s niece Penny and her hyper-intelligent dog Brain, with little to no help from Gadget himself.

Now, the theory goes that, as with every other bionic character on television, Gadget must have suffered some horrendous accident to force the replacement of his limbs with telescoping ones, his head with a helicopter, his€ well, you get the idea. And clearly, no one€™s real name is €˜Gadget€™. Meanwhile, Doctor Claw sounds as though he€™s speaking through a ventilator or something, and we only ever see one metal hand curling from around his seat.

What if Doctor Claw was the original detective, and after being horribly injured (perhaps in an explosion) is replaced by a robot version of himself€ a clearly malfunctioning, idiotic version? It'€™d be enough to make anyone turn to terrorism.

Still not convinced?

Well, the opening credits give it away. Right at the end, we see Gadget swing Doctor Claw€™s chair around to reveal €“ nothing. Nothing but an empty seat, a false metal arm, and a bomb. A bomb that then, symbolically, blows both Gadget and the chair high into the air€.
