9 Upcoming 2016 TV Shows That Are Already Doomed To Fail

7. The Shannara Chronicles

Produced by MTV (uh oh), The Shannara Chronicles is an upcoming adaptation of the fantasy/science fiction series written by Terry Brooks. It depicts the adventures that take place throughout the history of the Four Lands. So why's it doomed? Well, as mentioned, the show is airing on MTV. It may have become something of predictable joke to bash MTV, but that's not without good reason. The network has a history of airing terrible shows, and it also has a history of inadvertently crushing genuinely decent shows that somehow wind up on its network (case in point: Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous, written and starring American comedian Bo Burnham). The truth is, the MTV audience (in general, I won't make any sweeping judgements) just aren't looking for sophisticated sci-fi or fantasy shows when they tune into the channel. On top of that, fans of the books are somewhat confused by the fact the show is an adaptation of the second book in the series, not the first. When even fans of the source material are riled, well...good luck, Shannara.
