Amazon's Lord Of The Rings: 10 Things Fans Demand
5. Howard Shore
If Alan Lee is responsible for the look of Middle Earth, then Howard Shore takes credit for the sound of the place. The composer was entrusted with creating the score for Jackson's trilogy - and boy did he do a good job.
Concerning Hobbits? A beautiful musical motif that spans from The Fellowship of the Ring, right the way through to the final scenes of the Hobbit trilogy - synonymous with the blissful greenery of the Shire. Collabs with Annie Lennox and Enya? Iconic. Perfectly tailoring each aspect of the soundtrack to be meaningfully representative of the mise-en-scene? Inspiring.
Not using Howard Shore's work in this series would once again be a bit of a downer. Tolkien's world is embellished by soundscape of the films, so it's hard to imagine anything else as a backing for the action.
Obviously, retreading old steps might be a bit tiresome - we don't need an exact replica if Howard Shore isn't on board. But an homage of sorts would be nice. Besides, I doubt they'd stray too far from the likes of Shore's atmospheric orchestral masterpiece.
