Arrow Season 4: 6 Ups And 5 Downs From 'Genesis'

5. Felicity With Oliver

Arrow Genesis
The CW

Starting with the downs...

Remember when Ollicity was the cutest of things? Like a fluffy puppy riding a magical unicorn over a rainbow in a sky of marshmallows? Something like that at least. Well, forget that, because the whole Ollicity thing is groan-worthy now and, unfortunately, the blame for that lies firmly at the door of Felicity Smoak.

Shockingly, fan-favourite Felicity has become one of Arrow’s biggest problems since the second half of Season 4. Acting like a complete asshat at times, Felicity has suddenly become a major downer of the entire show. And even when the show has tried to make Felicity more like the old Felicity we know and love, it’s been a totally misjudged effort, such as having her make a whole load of badly-placed “dead” quips in the aftermath of Laurel Lance’s demise.

In Genesis, it seemed a bit of a stretch to see Felicity so keen to join Oliver on his escapade to do, err, magic stuff, and even more than that, she was soon back to making regular quips and being all nice and smiley with Oliver Queen, the man who she recently jilted and called off a wedding too.

The Felicity Smoak character is in dire need of fixing, although right now that seems like a far too major job to get done by the time Season 4 comes to a close.
