Arrow Season 7: 10 Reasons It Should Be The Last
3. The Current Storyline Feels Like The Right One To End With
When we last saw Oliver Queen, he was starting a life-sentence at a SuperMax prison. While this was undoubtedly a shocking way of setting up Season 7, it's possible that it is also setting the stage for the end of this emerald hero's story. Having sacrificed his freedom to save Star City, Green Arrow's six-year-long journey from homewrecker to hero was well and truly over.
Throughout his stint as Star City's protector, Oliver found himself going out of his way to evade the law. With his identity at risk of being discovered twice in the first three seasons, it's understandable that we were apprehensive about the show recycling this trope in Season 6. However, this time it would be different. This time, Oliver didn't walk away scot-free. This time, he willingly paid the price.
This decision to publicly out Oliver has finally allowed the show to break the mould and offer up something different. Moreover, whether intentional or not, it makes Mr. Queen's previous vigilante-infused brushes with the law seem like exceptional foreshadowing, as if everything was leading to this moment. If that is indeed the case, then we should prepare ourselves for an epic final chapter in which Oliver Queen attempts to prove once and for all that the Green Arrow is the true saviour of Star City. And what a fitting ending that would be.
There's no doubt about it: from a narrative standpoint, this season is the perfect place for the show to come to an end.
