Batman v Superman v Doctor Who: 10 Heroic Connections

7. Vincent Price - Egghead/Scratchman

The 1960s Batman TV series cast a range of Hollywood talent in villainous roles, and none were more appropriate than horror icon Vincent Price. He lent his flamboyant screen persona to adversary Egghead, battling Adam West and Burt Ward's Caped Crusader and The Boy Wonder. Meanwhile, to Who aficionados Price also has a place in the Time Lord's adventures, albeit in an infamous chapter rather than one from the canon. At the height of his success as The Doctor, Tom Baker sought to make Doctor Who Meets Scratchman, a macabre movie that would have seen The Devil himself rock up in the TARDIS. Co-written with companion Ian Marter, it's said Price was in the frame to play the title's incarnation of evil. With a bonkers climax that dropped the gangly Gallifreyan into a massive game of pinball, it sounded like the perfect addition to the plethora of British Seventies horror films. Unfortunately the idea was floated in an era before crowdfunding, and while Baker's request for funds was met by a deluge of cash from fans, he had to give it all back for legal reasons. And the world was sadly deprived of a rollicking tale of gods, robots, scarecrows and Daleks.
