Breaking Bad: 5 Alternate Scenes We're Glad We Didn't Get To See

2. Walt Jnr. Dies

walter jnr Walt Jnr. was originally supposed to die in a scene that you'd have had to have seen to believe. It has been widely reported in the past that Jesse's character wasn't originally intended to survive season one, and that Walt would have avenged his death by tying his killer up in a basement and torturing him. The show's writers conjured up an elaborate torture scene in which Walter cut off a limb of Jesse's murderer one day at a time, cauterizing the wound with a blow torch each time to prolong the misery. Should the killer try to escape, he'd set off a trip wire hooked up to a gun targeted at his heart. However, one day, Walt Jnr. discovers his dad's little chamber of horror and offers the captive some water. After the killer realises who mini-Walt is, he purposely sets off the trap, leading to both dying in a volley of bullets. While this would have made for compelling viewing, it would have messed with the show's main theme - that the only reason Walt went into the meth business was to leave money behind for his kids. With no Walt Jnr. in the picture, this premise would have quickly unravelled. "This show would have been, as you can tell from the story I just told, a very different show, indeed," conceded Gilligan.
