Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Every Season 7 Episode Ranked Worst To Best

5. Ep. 12: Ransom

Brooklyn Nine-Nine
NBC

Ransom is an episode that has a lot going for it, with every plot thread serving up comedy gold. For starters, it features fan-favourite characters Kevin and Cheddar - Capt. Holt's husband and dog respectively - with the central plot involving the loveable pooch being kidnapped and held for ransom. Despite the "seriousness" of the situation, it's such a delight to see Holt and Kevin grow uncharacteristically frantic over their "fluffy boy".

The best part of the hostage crisis however, comes from Jake's idea to pose as Kevin for the hostage hand-over. Watching Kevin and Holt teach Jake how to act like Kevin is simply sublime, with some beautiful little moments between Holt and Kevin. It's like watching a kid play with his two dads. Then the finished result is just so surreal, it's hard not to get a kick out of it.

The B-plot is also full of laughs, with Rosa stepping in on pregnant Amy's behalf to compete in an endurance contest. The prize: a much-desired, high-end baby stroller. The competition: The last person left with their hand on the stroller wins. The catch: Amy's boring ex, Teddy, is also competing and he has no shortage of dull stories to share with his fellow competitors. Watching Rosa endure the monotonous torture is wonderful, while also showing a selfless side to Rosa that we don't often get to see.

Throw in Boyle and Terry's "Workplace Bone Buds" business venture, and you've got an episode full of laughs and memorable moments.
