20 TV Shows That Were Cancelled In 2025

6. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Poker Face Cancelled
CBS

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has been an unassailable staple of late night TV for the past decade, with more than 1,700 episodes airing since it kicked off in September 2015.

Ratings have been consistently strong, enough to make it the highest-rated American late night talk show for nine straight seasons, making it all the more shocking that, in July 2025, CBS announced that it would be ending in May 2026 and The Late Show brand retiring along with it.

Though CBS dubbed the move "purely a financial decision", critics have pointed to possible political motivations, given Colbert's sustained criticism of the Trump administration, all while CBS' parent company, Paramount Skydance, paid $16 million to Trump to settle a lawsuit - a settlement which many called a glorified bribe.

As such it's enormously convenient that CBS would cancel a highly rated show which just so happens to take a poor view of the sitting President.
