Castlevania Season 3: 11 Reasons You Should Watch
2. The Relationships
The relationships in this season feel much more natural and engaging in comparison to other shows, with romantic relationships feeling less about the idea of romance and more about the chemistry of characters, and other interpersonal relationships showing both nuance and surprising simplicity.
The terrifying, monstrous Carmilla becomes funny and affectionate with her "sisters", almost "humanised" in the way she fits into their group and the unabashed trust she puts in them. The two lovers, Morana and Striga, are surprisingly sweet and warm, despite both having a penchant for murder and torture.
One of the most unexpected relationships was that of Trevor and Sypha - not unexpected in its existence, but in the way it seems not to have changed their relationship much, beyond simply deepening it in both humour and trust (with some sex added in).
More harrowing is the relationship between Hector and vampire sister Lenore - formed more out of a human need for kindness and connection than any true deep affections, on Hector's side, almost painfully mirroring the relationship protagonist Alucard forms with his newfound Japanese vampire hunter friends, who his loneliness pushes him to cling to regardless of the ill it might eventually bring.
