Class: 8 Reasons To Be Excited About The Doctor Who Spin-Off

1. The Doctor Is In It

OK, cards on the table. Obviously it will be highly interesting to see Class carve its own niche in the Whoniverse but, let's be real here, there is one thing that is most exciting the fans at this point. Yes, the Doctor himself will drop into the show for its first episode!

The main character of the parent show helping to kickstart the spin-off is an old television trope, but surprisingly the Doctor Who family have never tried it out before. Torchwood stayed clear of the Doctor for the entirety of its runtime and David Tennant and Matt Smith only appeared in SJA in its later years. It's a welcome change, then, for Class to embrace its status as a child of Doctor Who right from the off. Seeing as we haven't met any of these characters before, having the Doctor show up should make it feel like a legitimate piece of the Doctor Who story.

Plus, we haven't see the Doctor since last Christmas and - apart from another Christmas special in a couple of months - we won't see him again until next spring, when Series Ten finally airs. It's about time we had the Time Lord back on our screens again.
