Doctor Who: The 10 Most Pathetic Plans Put Forward By Villains
5. Drashig Rebellion
The vast majority of the adventure known as Carnival of Monsters is reactionary behavior. Very little of what occurs can be considered much of a plan. It is not until Kalik and Orumthe powder blue fellowsdecide to let the Drashigs out to start a bloody revolution in the belief that war is the cure to the boredom facing them on their planet that the first true plan commences. However, it is clear from the start it is poorly thought out. What Makes This Pathetic? Using anything as a tool of chaos is just a bad idea. While the resulting instability may be mildly entertaining, there is no guarantee that any rebellion will result in a better outcome than the status quo. It is also difficult to see how the chaos and danger presented by the Drashigs would result in purpose or meaning for the inhabitants, even if elections were necessary. It is difficult to see how large carnivorous sea serpents running amok can lead to fun for all. Ultimately, all Kalik and Orum achieve is to get themselves eaten before the Drashigs are stopped, thereby proving even from a results perspective that the plan was a miserable failure. But, we can at least concede that Kalik and Orum's rather desperate plan had some possibility to work, unlike the man who made the fourth spot in this countdown. He does have something in common with Kilik and Orum, they all managed to get themselves eaten.
