Doctor Who: 10 Ways Danny Pink Could Surprise Us

4. Danny Pink Is An Early Incarnation Of River Song

This is one of the wilder ways things could go. Keep in mind that there's a period of River's life that we don't know about, located between "Day of the Moon" and "Let's Kill Hitler." It is quite possible that she could have regenerated any number of times in between, and in "The Doctor's Wife" there is mention of at least one of Time Lord who frequently regenerated cross-sex. Theoretically, this is possible, if highly improbable, but that can be said about the series as a whole. Considering that it was said that the first time the Doctor met her, he knew all about her and she knew nothing of him. This would certainly be an odd way to fulfill that. Also, if he managed to get romantically (and possibly telepathically) linked to Clara, that would certainly explain what she meant about "Spoilers!" at the end of "Name of the Doctor." After all, River would know about her much earlier self in a way that the Doctor would be yet to discover. Still, perhaps the long, contorted, and some might say "contrived" River Song storyline is best kept "done" for a while, even if there are a few loose threads unresolved. The series has always tended to be at its best where the stories themselves are isolated from the time travel aspect of the show because it is too easy to miss some paradoxes or plot holes created by its use.
