6. More On-Location Filming
Give me more episodes shot on location around the world. Yes, they're more expensive to make but lend a higher degree of authenticity to the episode/story. Think of Charles Dickens in snowy Victorian Cardiff, the double-decker bus in the desert in Planet of the Dead, the Scottish Highlands with Queen Victoria and Rose in a mini-skirt. Think Angels in Manhattan with our friends hanging out in Central Park, the Lost Astronaut by a real American lake, the Cyborg hunting in the old wild west, aliens in modern London. Real locations lend another level to the story, another layer of reality and donate haunting atmospheres. The location becomes it's own character and adds something magical to the whole piece that you just can't create on a sound stage, even with the best special effects. After all, there's only so many times we can visiting more Welsh quarries standing in for bigger, more fantastical locations occasionally we need the true-to-life, definitive article to give the show the grand stage it deserves.
